Site prep and the bollard itself
Before digging, the crew clears the area and has utility lines marked, including a call to Alberta One-Call or the local utility locators. Pipe size and steel grade are chosen for the impact the bollard is supposed to take and for corrosion.
How they go in
In-ground bollards sit in an anchor hole with a gravel drainage base. The sleeve is set flush with finished grade and locked in concrete, then the bollard is inserted. Collapsible bollards stay in the ground and raise or lower when a maintenance area or park needs access. Fixed bollards stay up, for plazas and other high-traffic spots. Bolt-down, augered installs with vinyl sleeves, and stainless steel are available, in the sizes the site needs.
